Updating firmware for link as modem
The WAN side potential exposure is being investigated and NCF is taking every possible step to ensure your modem/router can't be exploited.
NCF has looked into this vulnerability and strongly recommends that you perform the following steps: As long as you have the following hardware versions and the latest corresponding firmware versions installed, then your modem/router is not affected by the Misfortune Cookie.
Each modem/router has a built-in web server that allows the modem to be configured by any computer via any browser.
In December 2014 Carnegie Mellon University CERT, based on findings by researchers from Check Point’s Malware and Vulnerability Research Group, discovered that some DSL modems/routers have a vulnerability that has existed in the firmware since 2002.

as it was giving message says windows cannot connect to this network, so i rebooted the router again, & tried to connect, then start getting message security key miss match. Is it possible i can go to the router page using the ethernet connected??
Carefully enter the correct password, and press Enter. Then connect via SSH and issue the following command to initiate a local upgrade. Use the SSH credentials to login into the Uni Fi Device. Correct this by going to the tmp folder and deleting first and then trying the upgrade command once more (making sure it was in the correct folder in the Controller).
So you have a wireless router that has been quietly serving Wi-Fi to your household for many years? Chances are, if you answered yes to either question, you may not have upgraded your router’s firmware in quite some time.
It is possible to run a different version of firmware on any Uni Fi device.
Usually you would run the same version on APs, or switches, but in some cases you may only want to test a new firmware in a certain location before rolling it out site wide (or to multiple sites).
A button will appear on the upper, right-hand of the screen, offering the option to Start Rolling Upgrade if there are UAPs with pending upgrades on the list.
